Cut & Fill Planning Estimates
Review apparent earthwork change and selected stockpile quantities using drone-captured visible surfaces, with the workflow and practical limitations documented for the assignment.
A Documented Method for Earthwork Planning
Ground observations and truck counts do not always show how visible surfaces changed across a large site. When two drone-captured surfaces are sufficiently comparable, they can provide a planning estimate of apparent material change within a defined area.
Results depend on the capture method, control, surface visibility, base-surface assumptions, processing, and site conditions. We document the method and limitations for the assignment. Unless a separately validated workflow is agreed in writing, these are operational planning estimates rather than certified, contract, invoice, or pay-quantity measurements.
What You Can Measure
Surface Change Between Flights
When dated surfaces are sufficiently aligned and comparable, review apparent cut and fill patterns and estimated net change within a defined area.
Stockpile Volume Estimates
Estimate selected pile volumes when the pile geometry, surrounding surface, capture conditions, and base definition are suitable.
Review in the Browser
Define an area in the viewer and review the estimated volume, selected base, and visible surface within the stated limitations.
Optional Surface Model
A Digital Surface Model can be included when the site and selected capture workflow are suitable for the requested planning review.
Visual + Quantitative
Pair the numbers with maps and 3D views so owners and superintendents see the work and the quantities together.
Material Tracking
Use repeat estimates alongside trucking logs, field records, and qualified checks to review visible material trends over time.
